Abstract This data set contains images acquired by the OSIRIS Narrow Angle Camera during the CRUISE 4-2 mission phase
Description Data Set Overview = This data set contains science, calibration and checkout images acquired by the OSIRIS Narrow Angle Camera system on the Rosetta mission. The images were acquired during the CRUISE 4-2 mission phase covering the period from 2008-10-06 to 2009-09-14. The images are CODMAC level 3. The CRUISE-4B mission phase was used for instrument checkout. The dataset covers the following discrete activities: ---------------------------------------------------Activity: Shutter Test MRB 20090309 of type: SHUTTER_TEST Period from: 2009-03-09 to: 2009-03-11 Observations: Shutter Test MRB 20090309 ---------------------------------------------------Essential Reading ----------------The following documents, located on the dataset DOCUMENT folder, are essential for the understanding and interpretation of this data set: OSIRIS_SSR.PDF: Gives an overview of the science goals of the OSIRIS instrument and an overview of the instrument hardware. OSIRIS_SIS.PDF: Describes the OSIRIS PDS header Related Data Sets ----------------The following PDS data sets are related: RO-X-OSINAC-2-CR4B-CRUISE4B-V1.4 RO-X-OSIWAC-2-CR4B-CRUISE4B-V1.4 RO-X-OSIWAC-3-CR4B-CRUISE4B-V1.4 Processing OSIRIS telemetry processing facility at the Max Planck Institute for Solarsystem Research from the raw telemetry stream sent down from the rosetta spacecraft. The decoded telemetry stream was initially saved as Level 1 PDS images (raw telemetry header and raw image data). These raw Level 1 image files were then passed through a level 1 to level 2 processing pipeline. This pipeline converts the raw telemetry header into calibrated physical values and appends additional information collected from external data sources (SPICE, sequence library ...) The output of this processing pipeline can be found in the associated RO-OSINAC-2-* dataset. Finally the level 2 images were processed using an IDL based calibration software package (in...

The spacecraft carries a Rosetta Lander, named Philae, to the nucleus and deploys it onto its surface. A brief description of the mission and its objectives can be found in the Rosetta Science Management Plan [RO-EST-PL-0001] and in papers [GLASSMEIERETAL2007A]. A detailed description of the mission analysis can be found in the Consolidated Report on Mission Analysis [RO-ESC-RP-5500], the ROSETTA User Manual [RO-DSS-MA-1001], and the flight Operations Plan [RO-ESC-PL-50...
