Abstract This dataset contains RAW DATA from the RPCICA instrument on mission ROSETTA during Cruise phase 4B. Data of the solar wind was obtained. Data set version 2 replaces a previously delivered data set. Important changes are the ordering of the energy levels which now go from low to high and that the quality flag in the labels is updated.
Description Data Set Overview = The data from the ROSETTA PLASMA CONSORTIUM (RPC) Ion Composition Analyser (ICA) was submitted by Hans Nilsson for the RPCICA team. The data set contains data of mass resolved positively charged ions in the energy range 10 eV to 40 keV. The raw data is separated into mass channels or mass channel ranges, not actual ion mass. For most circumstances, significant counts are seen only for certain directions, mass channels and energy levels. The data is thus sparse with many zeros. The unit is COUNTS. This data set contains undisturbed solar wind data from the cruise phase. Changes form version 1 to 2: The order of the energy levels is now from low to high, as this is more intuitive. The definition of the quality flag has changed and now provides information about noise levels and possibly unstable energy scale which may affect low energy measurements.

The spacecraft carries a Rosetta Lander, named Philae, to the nucleus and deploys it onto its surface. A brief description of the mission and its objectives can be found in [GLASSMEIERETAL2007A]. A detailed description of the mission analysis can be found in the ROSETTA User Manual [RO-DSS-MA-1001], and the flight Operations Plan [RO-ESC-PL-5000]. On its long way to the comet nucleus after a Launch by Ariane 5 P1+ in March 2004, the ROSETTA spacecraft orbited the Sun fo...
