Abstract The Micro-Imaging Dust Analysis System (MIDAS) is an instrument on the ROSETTA Orbiter that will provide 3D images and statistical parameters of pristine cometary particles, collected in the vicinity of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. This data set includes reference measurement data acquired with the flight spare unit (FS) on ground, which was used for improving the accuracy of the images gathered by the actual flight unit and to develop adequate measuement procedures for flight. The test data was collected during several years and spawns several data sets, in order to keep the individual data set size on a reasonable level. The current dataset contains data from 2015.
Description Details on the time interval of this particular data set are given in the following description and the introductory section of AAREADME.TXT. This dataset includes ground-based MIDAS reference measurement data, acquired 2015 in an laboratory with the flight spare instrument. The following images can be found in the dataset (for a given image, the name of the respective label file is composed of the file path associated with the preceding flight spare data acquistion period FS_XXXX and the image identifier listed in the second column): ---------------------------------------------------------------------Scenario DAQ (YYDDDhhmm) Target Tip ImgSize StepSize D MM (D = main scan direction, MM = measurement mode) ---------------------------------------------------------------------FS_2015 /DATA/IMG/IMG_1501211_1533516__ZS.LBL ---------------------------------------------------------------------001 150121320-150121321 11 DAQ 8 32x 32 100x 100 X DYN 002 150121326-150121326 11 DAQ 8 32x 32 100x 100 X DYN 003 150121331-150121332 11 DAQ 8 32x 32 100x 100 X DYN 004 150121334-150121341 11 DAQ 8 32x 32 100x 100 X DYN 005 150121341-150121401 11 DAQ 8 32x 32 100x 100 X DYN 006 150121405-150121601 11 DAQ 8 128x128 24x 24 X DYN 007 150121405-150121601 11 DAQ 8 128x128 24x 24 X DYN 008 150121929-150121936 11 DAQ 8 256x256 1x 1 X DYN 009 150231356-150231400 41 DAQ 15 256x256 47x 47 X DYN 012 150231407-150231523 41 DAQ 15 256x256 47x 47 X DYN 015 150241443-150241448 41 DAQ 15 256x256 47x 47 Y DYN 018 150241536-150241901 41 DAQ 15 224x224 47x 47 X DYN 021 150242242-150250234 41 DAQ 15 224x224 47x 47 X DYN 024 150251044-150251750 41 DAQ 15 224x224 47x 47 X DYN 027 150261333-150270110 41 DAQ 15 224x224 47x 47 X DYN 030 150331217-150341141 41 DAQ 15 352x224 13x 13 X DYN 033 150351325-150360616 41 DAQ 15 352x224 13x 13 X DYN 036 150371331-150371938 32 DAQ 2 256x256 15x 15 X DYN 041 150401007-150401605 32 DAQ 2 256x256 15x 15 X DYN 04...

The spacecraft carries a Rosetta Lander, named Philae, to the nucleus and deploys it onto its surface. A brief description of the mission and its objectives can be found in [GLASSMEIERETAL2007A]. A detailed description of the mission analysis can be found in the ROSETTA User Manual [RO-DSS-MA-1001], and the flight Operations Plan [RO-ESC-PL-5000]. On its long way to the comet nucleus after a Launch by Ariane 5 P1+ in March 2004, the ROSETTA spacecraft orbited the Sun ...
