Abstract The Micro-Imaging Dust Analysis System (MIDAS) is an instrument on the ROSETTA Orbiter that will provide 3D images and statistical parameters of pristine cometary particles, collected in the vicinity of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. This data set includes reference measurement data acquired with the flight spare unit (FS) on ground, which was used for improving the accuracy of the images gathered by the actual flight unit and to develop adequate measuement procedures for flight. The test data was collected during several years and spawns several data sets, in order to keep the individual data set size on a reasonable level. The current dataset contains data from 2014.
Description Details on the time interval of this particular data set are given in the following description and the introductory section of AAREADME.TXT. This dataset includes ground-based MIDAS reference measurement data, acquired 2014 in an laboratory with the flight spare instrument. The following images can be found in the dataset (for a given image, the name of the respective label file is composed of the file path associated with the preceding flight spare data acquistion period FS_XXXX and the image identifier listed in the second column): ---------------------------------------------------------------------Scenario DAQ (YYDDDhhmm) Target Tip ImgSize StepSize D MM (D = main scan direction, MM = measurement mode) ---------------------------------------------------------------------FS_2014 /DATA/IMG/IMG_1402410_1433814__ZS.LBL ---------------------------------------------------------------------001 140281721-140281736 1 DAQ 16 32x 32 1000x 1000 X CON 002 140281742-140281757 1 DAQ 16 32x 32 1000x 1000 Y CON 003 140291145-140291145 1 DAQ 10 224x224 47x 47 X DYN 004 140291307-140292355 1 DAQ 10 224x224 47x 47 X DYN 005 140301054-140301054 1 DAQ 10 192x192 55x 55 X DYN 006 140301101-140302007 1 DAQ 10 192x192 55x 55 X DYN 007 140341233-140342004 2 CAL 10 256x256 10x 10 X DYN 008 140342300-140350733 3 CAL 10 224x224 15x 15 X DYN 009 140350749-140350831 3 CAL 10 224x224 15x 15 X DYN 010 140350849-140350849 3 CAL 10 224x224 15x 15 X DYN 011 140351019-140351832 3 CAL 10 224x224 15x 15 X DYN 012 140352119-140352119 4 CAL 10 256x256 10x 10 X DYN 013 140352130-140361157 4 CAL 10 224x224 10x 10 X DYN 014 140361537-140361537 1 DAQ 10 128x128 41x 41 X DYN 015 140361649-140361813 1 DAQ 10 128x128 8x 8 X DYN 016 140381336-140382108 32 DAQ 2 224x224 15x 15 X MAG 017 140381336-140382108 32 DAQ 2 224x224 15x 15 X MAG 018 140591525-140591525 1 DAQ 10 64x 64 256x 256 X DYN 019 140591527-140591527 1 DAQ 10 64x 64 256x 256 X DYN 020 1407...

The spacecraft carries a Rosetta Lander, named Philae, to the nucleus and deploys it onto its surface. A brief description of the mission and its objectives can be found in [GLASSMEIERETAL2007A]. A detailed description of the mission analysis can be found in the ROSETTA User Manual [RO-DSS-MA-1001], and the flight Operations Plan [RO-ESC-PL-5000]. On its long way to the comet nucleus after a Launch by Ariane 5 P1+ in March 2004, the ROSETTA spacecraft orbited the Sun ...
