Abstract This data set contains CODMAC level 2 data acquired by the Rosetta Orbiter ALICE UV Spectrometer during the third earth flyby mission phase, which took place between 2009-09-14 and 2009-12-13.
Description Required Reading The format of all Alice data are described in detail by the EAICD document located in the /DOCUMENT directory. In addition, the Rosetta Alice logbook file, RA_LOGBOOK_NNN.ASC, also located in the DOCUMENT directory provides observational details such as observation target, commanded exposure time, etc., for all Alice data. The Alice team strongly recommends reading this documentation before using the data. Data Set Overview = This data set contains uncalibrated data acquired by the Rosetta Orbiter ALICE UV Spectrometer during the Earth Swing-by 3 mission phase, which took place between 2009-09-14 and 2009-12-13. It also includes data from Payload Checkout 10. A detailed listing of all Alice observations is given in the observation log file located in the DOCUMENT directory. The following Alice observations were made during the period covered by this data set: # # Payload Checkout #10 (PC10) # 2009 September 18 - October 8 # Alice activity overview: # * 2009 Sep 18 02:15 - AL01 (passive checkout; 2 hr) # * 2009 Sep 18 04:00 - AL02A (initial decontamination; 25 hr, 22hr heater + 3hr cooldown) # * 2009 Sep 19 05:45 - Alice interference test repeat with MIRO, OSIRIS, VIRTIS (15 min) # * 2009 Sep 19 06:25 - AL04 (HV/Discriminator test [alf Gru]; 22hr 40min) # * 2009 Sep 20 05:10 - AL03B (Cal Star, Narrow Center [alf Gru]; 1 hr) # * 2009 Sep 20 07:30 - AL11 (Stellar Flat field Scan [alf Gru]; 5 hr 25 min) # * 2009 Sep 20 14:50 - AL99A (flight software patch, v2.07; 45 min) # * 2009 Sep 24 10:00 - GO/NOGO for remaining Alice operations based on results of AL99A patch # * 2009 Sep 25 23:55 - AL99B (validation test of flight software patch, v2.07; 2hr) # * 2009 Sep 26 02:10 - AL03A (Cal Star, Narrow Center [Vega]; 1hr) # * 2009 Sep 26 05:05 - AL06B, AL08B (Cal Star, Wide Bottom & Top [alf Gru]; 2 hr 10 min) # * 2009 Sep 26 07:10 - AL09A/B/C (Alignment with OSIRIS [alf Gru]; 4 ...

The spacecraft carries a Rosetta Lander, named Philae, to the nucleus and deploys it onto its surface. A brief description of the mission and its objectives can be found in the Rosetta Science Management Plan [RO-EST-PL-0001] and in papers [GLASSMEIERETAL2007A]. A detailed description of the mission analysis can be found in the Consolidated Report on Mission Analysis [RO-ESC-RP-5500], the ROSETTA User Manual [RO-DSS-MA-1001], and the flight Operations Plan [RO-ESC-PL-50...
