Abstract This archive contains calibrated data from the ROMAP-MAG instrument onboard ROSETTA Lander, acquired during the AST1 (Steins fly-by) phase. It also contains documentation which describes the ROMAP experiment. The data archived in this data set conform to the Planetary Data System (PDS) Standards, Version 3.6.
Description Data Set Overview = This data set contains the data referred to AST1 Mission Phase (Steins fly-by). Data Both data, scientific and housekeeping, are collected in this data set. They referred to CODMAC Level 3. Processing Only CODMAC Level 3 data are present in this data set A preliminary calibration is used for level 3 data during cruise phase when sensorhead boom is stowed, thus yielding to a poor data quality. See ROMAP_CALIBRATION_DESC.TXT in DOCUMENT directory and DATA_QUALITY keyword in data file labels. Coordinate System = The geometry items SC_SUN_POSITION_VECTOR, SC_TARGET_POSITION_VECTOR and SC_TARGET_VELOCITY_VECTOR provided in the label of the data product are relative to the Earth Mean Equator and Equinox reference frame of J2000. <>_SPACECRAFT_LATITUDE, <>_SPACECRAFT_LONGITUDE are given in the PLANETOCENTRIC coordinate system. These parameters are computed at time t=START_TIME. Distances are given in km, angles in degrees. ROMAP-MAG data are available in a non geophysical coordinate system (ECLIPJ2000, science_D for level 3, science_H for level 5). Although local systems might be preferred for solar wind interaction or remanent magnetization analysis, transformation in those systems is not foreseen for asteroid flybys. The main reason is that ROMAP data are used primarily for correction of RPC data. This has been done in S/C system. The transformation to local systems could be done by the user. The coordinate system will change during comet phase from geophysical coordinates to comet related coordinates (e.g. comet fixed frame, comet solar orbital).
