Description previous scans with pht c200 revealed that the elliptical dwarf galaxy n205 is spatially resolved in the fir and that the sed rises steeply between 150 and 205micron indicating a large amount of very cold dust about 8-10k (fig.1). this result, however, relies essentially on the 205micron data and may be influenced by the uncertain background determination. the scans did not cover sufficient background around n205, because they were designed for m31 (fig.2). therefore we need more observations to verify this unique very cold dust discovery with iso.

Mission Description The Infrared Space Observatory (ISO) was the world's first true orbiting infrared observatory. Equipped with four highly-sophisticated and versatile scientific instruments, it was launched by Ariane in November 1995 and provided astronomers world-wide with a facility of unprecedented sensitivity and capabilities for a detailed exploration of the Universe at infrared wavelengths.
