Description in order to consolidate the pht calibration and verify its adequate application in olp data reduction the following program is carried out: - observation of alpha boo (arcturus, hr 5340): star this is a well known calibration star with a consolidated spectral energy distribution. the star is sufficiently bright to be used as a standard at wavelengths longward of 60 micron. since the star is very bright at the shorter wavelengths background observations are taken only for filters longward of 25 micron. - observation of ngc 6543: planetary nebula calibration object with with different sed; steeply rising flux between 12 and 25 microns; the sed falling off beyond 60 micron. - observation of arp 220: galaxy - observation of ngc 6240: galaxy two bright ir galaxies showing the typical rising sed beyond 25microns at two flux levels. multi-filter scans are performed using all pht filters available to the observers in aots p03 and p22. note: the objects observed in this proposal can also be used for cross-calibration as they are intensively observed by other pht instruments. .history 31/01/97 ih, rjl, first version - arcturus only (email uk to mfk 13/01/97) 14/02/97\t\tih, obsesrvation of ngc6543, arp 220 and ngc 6240 added (email \t\t \t\t\t\tmfk 09/02/97) .ott 15165 .tdt 16605

Mission Description The Infrared Space Observatory (ISO) was the worlds first true orbiting infrared observatory. Equipped with four highly-sophisticated and versatile scientific instruments, it was launched by Ariane in November 1995 and provided astronomers world-wide with a facility of unprecedented sensitivity and capabilities for a detailed exploration of the Universe at infrared wavelengths.
