Description ====================================================================== we have discovered a wealth of molecular absorption and emission lines belonging to co, co2, oh and h2o in the spectrum of the bright heavily obscured cool supergiant, nml cyg (justtanont et al. 1996). in order to be able to interpret the spectrum, it is of fundamental importance to determine the line widths of these lines which are unresolved at the resolution of the sws grating spectrum. therefore, we request sws fabry-perot measurements of a number of lines in the spectrum of nml cyg. these observations will allow us to study the stratification and excitation of molecules in the circumstellar envelope, the cooling of the circumstellar material and the oh maser pumping scheme. these observations will be carried out in conjunction with lws observations of nml cyg. obsid : kjusttan propid : nml_h2o

Mission Description The Infrared Space Observatory (ISO) was the worlds first true orbiting infrared observatory. Equipped with four highly-sophisticated and versatile scientific instruments, it was launched by Ariane in November 1995 and provided astronomers world-wide with a facility of unprecedented sensitivity and capabilities for a detailed exploration of the Universe at infrared wavelengths.
