====================================================================== ==> in this proposal, more time is being requested for asternbe.liners ====================================================================== we propose to supplement our existing iso observations of 3 liners with similar data for 3 more liners. our original program aims to combine iso data with existing multiwavelength (x-ray, uv, optical, radio) data for these objects in order to study the excitation mechanisms of liners and their connection (if any) to agns. our original sample was cut down due to the lower iso sensitivity. preliminary analysis of the data we have received shows that our observing strategy allows us to detect fine-structure lines in the target galaxies. the proposed observations will restore the capability to achieve the full scientific goals of our program.

Mission Description
The Infrared Space Observatory (ISO) was the worlds first true orbiting infrared observatory. Equipped with four highly-sophisticated and versatile scientific instruments, it was launched by Ariane in November 1995 and provided astronomers world-wide with a facility of unprecedented sensitivity and capabilities for a detailed exploration of the Universe at infrared wavelengths.
