===================================================================== ==> in this proposal, more time is being requested for jkoornne.araclus ===================================================================== we propose to investigate a unique galactic be star in a heavily reddened cluster in the ara constellation. we have discovered with iso sws very high excitation gas at a position near the be star, and we also discovered extended 10 micron emission with isocam near another star in the cluster, an m supergiant separated by about 14 arcsec from the be star. recent radio observations show strong non-thermal radio emission from the be star and also from the m supergiant. we wish to investigate the nature of the emission using isocam and iso-sws.

Mission Description
The Infrared Space Observatory (ISO) was the worlds first true orbiting infrared observatory. Equipped with four highly-sophisticated and versatile scientific instruments, it was launched by Ariane in November 1995 and provided astronomers world-wide with a facility of unprecedented sensitivity and capabilities for a detailed exploration of the Universe at infrared wavelengths.
