Abstract MAXI J1820+070 is a likely new black-hole transient discovered by MAXI (ATel ) and followed-up with Swift. The lightcurve obtained with Swift/XRT shows a large variability and a possible QPO at 3e-3 Hz. An INTEGRAL observation in this phase could be particularly critical to study the broad-band emission of the source, as blackhole in the hard states usually show a spectrum extending to several 100 keVs, an energy band where only INTEGRAL can provide coverage. We believe that such observation would provide the entire community very interesting data to be exploited also together with the other facilities that will certainly point to the source shortly.

Mission Description The INTEGRAL (International Gamma-Ray Astrophysics Laboratory) mission, launched by the European Space Agency (ESA) on October 17, 2002, was designed to study high-energy phenomena in the universe. INTEGRAL was operating until february 2025 and it was equipped with three high-energy instruments: the Imager on Board the INTEGRAL Satellite (IBIS), the Spectrometer on INTEGRAL (SPI), and the JEM-X (Joint European Monitor for X-rays). Its Optical Monitoring Camera (OMC) provided optical V-band magnitude measurements, complementing the high-energy observations.
