Abstract We propose to observe the microquasar GRS 1758258 in the next of its rare dim soft states as a ToOobservation for 170 ksec combined with a contemporaneous 3 ks observation by Swift. The obtained broadband spectrum will be the first of its kind obtained during one of the peculiar soft states of GRS 1758258.Comparing it to the accumulated broad band spectrum of the hard state will reveal any changes of the accretiondisk and Comptonization parameters from the state change, and also possibly reveal the hard tail induced bythe state transition. Knowing these changes will help us to understand what causes black holes to switchbetween non-thermal radio-loud and thermal radio-quiet states. Observing the soft state of the persistent sourceGRS 1758258 is especially interesting as it is most likely a low mass X-ray binary and thus belongs to a classof objects that usually display transient behavior.

Mission Description The INTEGRAL (International Gamma-Ray Astrophysics Laboratory) mission, launched by the European Space Agency (ESA) on October 17, 2002, was designed to study high-energy phenomena in the universe. INTEGRAL was operating until february 2025 and it was equipped with three high-energy instruments: the Imager on Board the INTEGRAL Satellite (IBIS), the Spectrometer on INTEGRAL (SPI), and the JEM-X (Joint European Monitor for X-rays). Its Optical Monitoring Camera (OMC) provided optical V-band magnitude measurements, complementing the high-energy observations.
