Abstract ABRIDGED: We propose to continue on observational program dedicated to confirming a distinct and unexpected asymmetry in the 511 keV line emission emanating from the inner Galactic disk that was reported by Weidenspointner et al. 2008. For AO-6, a first fraction of the required 4.1 Ms of observation time has already been granted; here we request the time that remains unobserved after AO-6 (about 2.4 Ms) to complete the proposed program.

Mission Description The INTEGRAL (International Gamma-Ray Astrophysics Laboratory) mission, launched by the European Space Agency (ESA) on October 17, 2002, was designed to study high-energy phenomena in the universe. INTEGRAL was operating until february 2025 and it was equipped with three high-energy instruments: the Imager on Board the INTEGRAL Satellite (IBIS), the Spectrometer on INTEGRAL (SPI), and the JEM-X (Joint European Monitor for X-rays). Its Optical Monitoring Camera (OMC) provided optical V-band magnitude measurements, complementing the high-energy observations.
