| Description |
We propose to observe with PACS and SPIRE the unique system of Abell85: a rich cluster with a feeding filament detected in the X-ray. Through extensive optical spectroscopy, we already detected anoverdensity of star-forming galaxies along the filament. Infrared observations, inconjuction with newly obtained GALEX data, will allow us to obtain acomplete census of the obscured and unobscured star forming activityalong the filament and inside the cluster. Since galaxies areinfalling onto the cluster along the filament, this corresponds tostudying the different stages of evolution of galaxies during theinfall. Moreover, due to the vicinity of the cluster (z=0.055), wewill obtain images deep enough to detect dwarf galaxies, those mostaffected by the environment for which we expect the largest variationsin specific star formation. |
